What is Somatic Coaching?
Somatic coaching assumes that we perceive, think and act not only with our minds, but with our entire bodies. Our posture, breathing, muscle tension and movement patterns are closely linked to our feelings, thoughts and habits – often unconsciously.
In somatic coaching, we consciously use these physical approaches. It is not about ‘getting rid of’ something, but rather about perceiving what is there and opening up new scope for action.
This can be quite practical: by changing your sitting position, breathing consciously, or making a small movement. The aim is to develop greater presence, self-regulation and connection with yourself – especially in challenging or stressful situations.
Who could benefit from this?
This offer is aimed at people who work in positions of responsibility:
managers, coaches, therapists, educators, people who care for elders, artists – and also people who are strongly committed to animals or other living beings.
Many of them are familiar with the following situations:
-
You are very challenged in conversations or meetings – emotionally, mentally, organisationally.
-
After an intense meeting or conflict, you feel exhausted, overstimulated or disconnected from yourself.
-
You function well in everyday life – but often lose touch with your own needs in the process.
-
Your body sends signals such as tension, shortness of breath, sleep disturbances or exhaustion – but you lack the time or knowledge to respond to them.
How can somatic coaching help here?
With targeted somatic micro-exercises, you can reconnect with your body and your own strength in just a few minutes. These exercises are simple, require no prior knowledge and can be done in everyday life – even in between other activities.
They help you to:
-
become more aware of your own state of mind
-
regain your inner balance after stressful situations
-
recognise and maintain boundaries
-
develop greater inner clarity and stability
-
deal with stress and pressure in a more resilient manner in the long term
